Nothing is more important than your family! Improving Family Life, Knowledge, and Understanding!

The Sweet Story of Pizzelle

Pizzelle, the delightful Italian waffle cookies, have a rich history that dates back to ancient times. Originating from the Abruzzo region of Italy, these thin, crisp cookies were traditionally made to celebrate holidays and special occasions. The name "pizzelle" comes from the Italian word "pizze," meaning round and flat.

The cookies are made using a special iron, similar to a waffle iron, which imprints intricate designs on the dough. Each family often has its own unique pizzelle recipe, passed down through generations, with variations in flavorings such as anise, vanilla, or lemon.

Pizzelle are not only a delicious treat but also a symbol of Italian heritage and tradition, bringing families together to share in the joy of baking and enjoying these sweet, crispy delights.
